What they are
A heat log is a wood log, just tidier
Our briquettes are made from shredded plywood and timber off-cuts pressed into a solid cylinder about the size of a tin of beans. The pressure alone holds them together; we add nothing.
Because the wood is workshop-dry rather than freshly felled, they burn hot and clean straight away, with none of the hissing and smoke you get from a damp log.

Burning tips
Getting the best from your briquettes
Light the stove with kindling as usual and add two or three briquettes once it has caught. Keep the air vent open until they are burning well, then turn it down for a long, steady heat.
Store them somewhere dry. They swell if they get wet, so keep the bag sealed and off the ground in a shed, garage or covered log store.
Questions people ask us
What are the briquettes made from?
Clean off-cuts of the board and timber we build van shelving from, shredded and pressed. Nothing painted, varnished or treated goes in, and we add no binders or wax.
How should I store them?
Keep them dry. Briquettes soak up moisture and swell, so a shed, garage or covered log store is ideal. Keep the bag sealed until you need it.
How do I light them?
Treat them like a good dry log: kindling and a firelighter, then two or three briquettes once it has caught. Open the air vent to get going and turn it down once the stove is warm.
Can I use them in an open fire or fire pit?
Yes. They work in log burners, multi-fuel stoves, open fires, chimineas and fire pits.
