Our story

From workshop off-cuts to a glowing stove

Darracott Designs has been building van racking and shelving in Torrington for years, and every job leaves a pile of clean plywood and timber off-cuts behind. Rather than send it to the skip, we shred it, press it under enormous pressure and turn it into heat logs.

The result is a briquette that is dry from the day it is made, burns hot and steady, and leaves very little ash. It felt like the right thing to do with good wood, and our neighbours seem to agree.

Our briquettes are made with households like yours in mind: anyone with a wood-burning stove who wants a warm room without the fuss. Because the wood is already dry when it comes off the bench, the logs light quickly and burn with a lovely steady heat. No seasoning, no stacking for a year first.

They are a tidy size too, so they sit neatly in the log basket and fit any stove.

We deliver within about 20 miles of Torrington, which takes in Bideford, Barnstaple, Holsworthy, Hatherleigh and the villages in between. You are always welcome to collect from the workshop at Darracott House too.
